And even when you reach this point, usually there are more informations than multiple ? line 0.ĭepending on the exception, it doesn't fit any catch block. Usually there are much more try.catch blocks before you reach this point.

The fix should come from the modders, just be patient instead of flaming Civ 6 devs.ĭevs have no responsibility in this case and I'm pretty sure it's written in the EULA of game and modding tools.

If you do have experience in programming you should know that exception is caught by a the last block which doesn't know how to fix that so it simply shows the call stack as it doesn't look like Windows error message.īy seeing the call stack, it can came from the Engine or some protected DLL or such.Īnd that's the point, if the mod calls an updated (modified) DLL, it crashes. That's why there are logs and firaxis bug reporter. why is that hard to make?Įdit: and fwiw i understand windows sets a recommended page file for the components, but why can't the components then manage it? what's different?Įrror messages like the one above are crap. Wish we had a chart, like "0x0 means it's a map mod" or "0圆5400 means it's antivirus" or "0xef987632 means you have a folder set to read only". i can understand "that these things" can be a factor, but i can't just read someone's 3 or 4 line complaint and say "this must be the cause", because i don't know why the same complaint has 10 different solutions. These aren't just proposed solutions for unhandled exception, they are anecdotal solutions. i mean, what is the mechanism? is it all about unsigned documents? is something bad in their memory or is it a permissions issue? for that reason, i'm kind of hesitant to offer it as a solution.Īnd i'd like to know why overzealous antivirus or firewall sometimes blocks it. i don't even really understand what's going on there. I would really like to know why, for some people, modifying the page file size fixes the issue. Hopefully this explains why this thread does not apply to you.

However, it is also possible that their mods might be responsible, and so in that case there might be a solution to the problem that they can implement without having to wait on 2K support. If the OP removes their mods and the problem persists then they may end up in the same situation as you. You'll need to report the problem to 2K support and hope that they can work with you on a resolution. In your case, clearly something else is going on. The point is that removing mods is a key first step to finding the actual cause of the problem, because mods - especially outdated mods - are the most likely cause of problems. Indeed, if the OP removes all of their mods there is a chance that they will still experience crashes. It IS annoying and for me it does not have anything to do with mods since I've never used one.Unfortunately, there are also some crashes not related to mods.

I still get the exception crash since the June update and can't play. I bought a new computer and installed the game. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game. I don't have any DLC, just the original game. Originally posted by Brachiopod:I don't play with any mods. Just again, catching exception doesn't prevent crashes. If it ain't windows directly displaying the exception code, that means something has caught the exception, either the game or the engine. I've never had any unhandled exception, so I wouldn't trashtalk the devs just by few examples.Īlso you'd be sure who's displaying the error.

Also, as they're developing a game rather than an engine, catch mods exception ain't priority. Game devs can't anticipate everything modders could do and how they would do. And when you see that a launcher stopped working after a patch, you can imagine of what level the quality management is. Instead of this you get multiple lines of ? as explanation. And it's easy for a developer to implement a catch block for this to show a message WHY the game crashed. It's the game, that crashes with an unhandled exception. Also, if the exception is thrown by the mod, it's on the modders side, isn't it ? No, because a mod is running in the game context.
